A Historical Perspective...
Briar Construction & Paving Company was established by Fred & Eloise
Good in 1977. The company then specialized in tennis courts and small
commercial projects such as banks and service stations.
Michael J. Good, son of Fred & Eloise Good purchased the company
in 1984 and renamed it The Briar Corporation. With the help of many key
individuals, the company changed course from small construction to a
total site development company. The focus quickly shifted from small
projects to residential subdivisions and commercial projects. The growth
of the company can be well documented from its first office location
measuring 2,200 sq. ft.,
the second office at 5,500 sq. ft. to its present
location at 4570 Orange Boulevard, Lake Monroe with over 11,000 sq.
ft.

In The Beginning...
At the time of the purchase in 1984, there were only 12 employees. That
number has since grown to over 300 team members over the past 20 years. "Leaders
by Performance" is the registered trademark of The Briar Corporation
and according to CEO Mike Good, having good team members who follow that
premise has been the reason for the continued success and growth of the
company. At Briar, people are the cornerstone of what makes the company
what it is; quality and commitment are not just words, they are the goal
of every team member; each and every day.
Most of the work performed at Briar is negotiated and contracted with
major residential developers in Central Florida; primarily in the Orlando
area. The illustrious client list includes Ginn Development, Maronda
Homes, KB Homes, DR Horton, Engle Homes, Castle & Cooke, Colony Homes,
Ryland Homes and Brasfield & Gorrie, LLC, to name a few. The road
to success has been relatively short by business standards. However,
at Briar, reputation is everything, and decisions past, present
and future are based on that premise.
Last year the company celebrated its 20th Anniversary; an outstanding
accomplishment for any business these days. The vision for the next twenty
years is simple; continue to provide quality service, outstanding leadership
and guidance to the younger generation so that the company's culture
remains intact.
