The Briar Family

Company sponsored events or gatherings are an integral part of the fabric of the company. Management has made a commitment to develop planned events for all team members. Some events are yearly events, such as the Annual Christmas Party, the Company Picnic or the Foremen's Outing and are attended by both the team member and their family. Other events are held periodically throughout the year and are generally for team members only, such as the quarterly barbecue.

The Annual Christmas Party is traditionally well attended by team members and their families as well as clients, suppliers and vendors. There is only one requirement; each person must bring an unwrapped gift for a child. These gifts are then donated to two special charities. In addition, the company honors loyalty by awarding each team member who has reached his or her 10 year anniversary with a check in the amount of $10,000 and a special ring. Twenty year team members will receive a check for $20,000 and a special appreciation plaque. Other monetary gifts to organizations and individuals are presented as well.

Annual Company Picnic

The Company sponsored Annual Picnic is always a hit, especially with the team member's children. There are always prizes to be awarded, special events such as a health fair, and plenty of activities for the kids. The company pays for the main food item, such as barbecue and each family brings a covered dish to share. Over the years, the event has been held at Bear Lake Park, which includes covered tables and a water area for swimming and cooling off.

Each year around March, the company makes a special point of hosting a Foremen's Outing. It is just another way for the company to show their appreciation of each Foreman. The Foremen along with their spouse or significant other are treated to a special dinner, entertainment and are awarded their annual bonus for a job well done.

Team Member Barbecue

The company has an on-site Barbecue for all team members immediately after work three times a year. This is a time to meet and greet new people just coming on board, an opportunity to talk to other team members working on other crews and just general camaraderie. It is a time to share news about the company and make special announcements.

Team Member Testimonials

Operations Manager: Allan Truskauskas

"I became a part of The Briar Corporation family in September of 1989. I began my career in Central Florida as an equipment operator/Foreman position on a grade crew. For the next 7 years I worked as a Foreman with crews performing clearing, earthwork, pipe work and grade work. I was indoctrinated in the full scope of work for the company. In 1996 I was promoted to Project Manager. To me, this was a tremendous opportunity to be able to move up in the company. For the next 8 years I was a Senior Project Manager on a number of the Company's major projects. In 2004 I was again promoted, this time to Operations Manager. As Operations Manager I have the distinct opportunity to mentor and guide future leaders and Project Managers toward their own fulfilling career with the company.

"My career over the past few years has been extremely rewarding and satisfying. In my opinion, The Briar Corporation is, by far, the best site development company to work for and if an individual chooses to work hard and take pride in what they accomplish, it provides excellent opportunities for personal growth."

Underground Utilities Superintendent: George Lane

"I started working for The Briar Corporation in January 1992. It was a small, family oriented company made up of 57 employees. I started as a bulldozer operator and 6 months later moved to a Underground Utilities Foreman position and am now the Underground Utilities Superintendent. I am blessed to have the opportunity to work with great people from my support help all the way to the management team at Briar. I can honestly say that The Briar Corporation takes excellent care of their employees and by far outshines the competition."

Underground Utilities Foreman: Tommy Ryan

"I first joined The Briar Corporation in 1990 at the age of eighteen, having never worked around any heavy equipment.  Once I showed my willingness to learn and punctuality, my superiors then took me under their wing.  After 7 years of training and a few night courses, I now am running my own utility crew and have both hands on a successful career ahead."

Grade Foreman: James Gunn

"I started with The Briar Corporation in October of 1985 as a support person, not knowing much about the site development business.  The Briar Team believes in giving their employees the chance to learn and advance.  Now, I am a respected Grade Crew Foreman in the industry, thanks to The Briar Corporation."
